Are you familiar with the concept of jazz jams? The formula is magical—all you need is: 1. a melody, 2. a key, and 3. a tempo. Then the song gets going!

The world of jazz is so wonderful. All jazz musicians know about 150 to 350 so-called jazz standards. In principle, musicians could meet each other for the first time in their lives on a jam stage in Mariehamn, and they could come from any corner of the world. And best of all, once the song gets going, those standards never sound the same.

So come to Saturday’s jam session to see and hear how this jam magic happens. Note: There’s always a host at the jam sessions—and on Saturday, Johannes Granroth, guitarist for the band Peela, will be act as a jam host.
